How do photo cakes work?

Big Day Cakes is the consumer-facing brand of Intercake, the tech wizards behind photo cake printing technology. You may have seen us in-store at ASDA, often called “photo cakes” or “design a cake.”

Customers can quickly design their own topper at the kiosk - or soon through the new Big Day Cakes app - by uploading a photo or choosing from a wide range of themed designs and adding a message.

Your design is printed in a food-grade environment onto an edible sugar-paste sheet using high-quality, food-safe ink. The topper is then added to a delicious, iced sponge cake in participating ASDA stores across the UK and SuperValu stores in Ireland.
